A Brief Introduction to Early Paediatric Medicine before the Era of Children’s Hospitals.

The following collection of slides and accompanying notes summarises some of the key events which finally culminated in the opening of the first children’s hospital in the United Kingdom.

Facts on Children’s Hospitals

The following collection of slides and accompanying notes presents some initial analyses of data generated from the HHARP databases, providing comparisons between the Great Ormond Street, Evelina and Glasgow hospitals : total admissions by year; by home address of patient; by result of stay in hospital; by cause of admission. All three hospitals had rules about who could be admitted and the final two slides looks at admissions for groups supposedly banned from the hospitals: babies and toddlers and infectious fever cases.
